In November 2018, Governor John Carney signed Executive Order 25– establishing a state healthcare spending benchmark, an annual per-capita rate of growth benchmark for healthcare spending, and multiple healthcare quality measures that are to be evaluated and adjusted every three years.
The Second Annual Healthcare Benchmark Trend Report was released to report trends in Delaware healthcare spending in quality, comparing 2020 data to a set benchmark and baseline data from 2019.
Significant findings:
- Total healthcare expenditures spending increased by 39 Million (0.5%) in 2020.
- Total Medical Expenditures decreased by 2.1% in 2020, with hospital inpatient services continuing to be the largest total medical expenditure category.
